The NETGEAR M4250 AV Line Series switch is unique with its dual web graphical user interface (GUI). One is the standard GUI for advanced network settings, identical to other NETGEAR Fully Managed Switches, creating a seamless user experience. The other GUI is a simple-to-use version dedicated to AV professionals. Removing all the complex network jargon, the AV GUI incorporates industry terminologies, enabling AV professionals to dive right into it with their most familiar language, eliminating the learning curve.

Input the IP Address of the switch in the address bar of your web browser. You will see the standard network GUI and the plentiful features of the fully managed M4250 switch. However, it could be too complicated and alien for AV professionals.

M4250 switches adopt dual GUI. Add the port number “8080” after the switch’s IP address, eg. 192.168.0.143:8080, you will enter the AV GUI.

Scroll down the main page of the AV GUI, you’ll see a multitude of AV profile templates, as the M4250 series support numerous AV standards and protocols.

  1. Audio Dante (To connect IP Audio Dante devices and their controller)
  2. Data (To connect PCs, sACN, Art-Net, MANet, and other network devices)
  3. Audio Q-SYS (To connect IP Audio Q-SYS devices and their controller)
  4. Video with Q-SYS Audio (To connect IP Video Encoders (TX), IP Video Decoders (RX), and their controller. Audio Q-SYS supported at the time in the same VLAN. Supported devices include Crestron NVX, AMX, Aurora Multimedia, ZeeVee, Atlona, Dante Video, NDI, SDVoE & etc.)
  5. Video with AES67 Audio (To connect IP Video Encoders (TX), IP Video Decoders (RX), and their controller. Audio AES67 supported at the same time in the same VLAN. Supported devices include Crestron NVX, AMX, Aurora Multimedia, ZeeVee, Atlona, Dante Video, NDI, SDVoE & etc.)
  6. Video (To connect IP Video Encoders (TX), IP Video Decoders (RX), and their controller. Audio is sent and received using another VLAN tag from the video nodes. Supported devices include Crestron NVX, AMX, Aurora Multimedia, ZeeVee, Atlona, Dante Video, NDL, SDVoE & etc.)
  7. Audio over IP AES67 (To connect IP Audio AES67 devices and their controller)
  8. Video with Dante Audio (To connect IP Video Encoders (TX), IP Video Decoders (RX), and their controller. Audio Dante supported at the same time in the same VLAN. Supported devices include Crestron NVX, AMX, Aurora Multimedia, ZeeVee, Atlona, Dante Video, NDI, SDVoE & etc.)

▼ Without any network knowledge, AV professionals can be confident at configuring all the AV over IP settings needed with just one click.

  1. Select the AV protocol used by your device, such as Video with Dante Audio, by clicking the settings icon on the right.
  2. Select the ports where this profile will apply.
  3. Name the profile and input a number as the VLAN ID.
  4. Select a color for easy identification.
  5. Set the IP address, subnet mask, DHCP, and DNS if needed.

You can also customize the AV profile, like choosing whether to apply Multicast, PTP (Precision Time Protocol for syncing audio and video), and QoS (support CoS & DSCP).

▼ You can apply multiple AV profiles in an M4250 series switch. For instance, ZeeVee (Video with Dante Audio) profile is applied to 5 ports, as shown in purple, 1 port applies Audio Q-SYS profile [orange], and 2 ports use Crestron (Video with AES67 Audio) profile [blue].
